Ski schools and sports shops offering services and rentals can be found in all ski areas!

Ski tourers will also feel at home in Lungau. Guided tours are available in Mariapfarr.

Or if you want to try snowshoeing, guided tours are also available.


Cross-country skiing is also possible in the village when snow conditions are suitable, throughout the winter in Mariapfarr-Liegnitz (snow-covered), and in the beautiful Preber area in Tamsweg, or Gnadenalm in Obertauern where snow is guaranteed.


Enjoy the fresh winter air on beautiful walks along winter hiking trails. Or take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.


If the weather is not suitable for outdoor activities, there are also numerous ways to spend the day in winter. Swimming in the Badeinsel in Tamsweg, museums (e.g., Burg Mauterndorf is open all year round, or the Silent Night Museum in Mariapfarr—this is where the lyrics to the famous song were written in 1816), it never gets boring.
